9 Decadent Desserts to Sweeten Your Fourth of July

by Priscilla Schrubb on June 28, 2022

Break out the grill and the potato salad, the Fourth of July is just around the corner! It doesn’t matter if it’s hamburgers or hot dogs on the menu, we think dessert is the underrated champion of this holiday. That’s why we scoured the family cookbooks (and maybe the internet) to find the 9 yummiest desserts you can serve this Independence day!

American Flag Cake

Looking for something simple that’s sure to wow everyone at the cookout? Grab your favorite boxed cake mix (or a premade sheet cake) and some white frosting. Then, just follow the instructions on the box, frost, and top with sliced strawberry stripes and a halved blueberry canton for the ultimate patriotic dessert!

Fireworks Cookies and Cream Cookies

Put some pop in your cookies with these delicious add-ins! Grab your favorite sugar cookie mix, add crushed oreos, red, white & blue sprinkles, and M&Ms—BOOM! Dressed up cookies, ready to snack on while watching the fireworks overhead.

Patriotic Popcorn

We’re over the moon for this patriotic twist on our favorite snack! Popcorn! Mix up your favorite popcorn (we suggest our Berries & Cream or White Chocolate Pretzel flavors) with melted marshmallows and all the patriotic sprinkles and star spangled candy you like. This dessert is sure to bring the smiles with a salty-sweet crunch that can’t be beat!

4th Of July Rice Krispie Treats

An oldie, but a goody! Who can resist Rice Krispie treats? Melt your marshmallows and split the mix between three bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, blue to another, and leave the third as is. Now, fold in your Rice Krispies. Layer them onto a cookie sheet to chill and serve! Easy and a classic crowd pleaser!

Want to take these treats to the next level? Add a layer of our sweet and spicy Red Hot Cinnamon popcorn for a burst of color and flavor!

Red, White and Blue Ice Cream Sandwiches

Prefer to not cook? All you need is a box of store bought ice cream sandwiches, store bought piping frosting, and your imagination! Star spangle each treat however you see fit! Just be sure they go back into the freezer until you’re ready to eat them!

Peach Dump Cake

If you’re short on time, this peach dump cake is an easy way to get all that homemade flavor without the stress!

  • Mix two large cans of peaches (syrup and all) into a greased 9-by-13-inch pan with ½ teaspoon of almond extract.
  • Sprinkle peaches with a ¼ cup of cubed salted butter, top with dry yellow cake mix and ½ cup of salted butter chunks, scattered evenly.
  • Bake in a 375° oven until the top of the cake is golden brown and the peach mixture is bubbly (about 45 minutes)!

Serve with vanilla ice cream for a delicious way to wrap up your holiday!

Chocolate-Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches

Two classic American flavors come together to make this super simple and super sweet treat! Snag your favorite chocolate chip cookies from the store (or make your favorite recipe) and peanut butter cup ice cream. Let the ice cream soften until easily scooped. When ready, scoop ice cream onto the flat side of one cookie, then top with another. Press firmly and place onto a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Once all your sandwiches are assembled, place into the freezer to set (about four hours). These cookie sandwiches are sure to have everyone smiling as the fireworks light up the sky!

Red, White, and Blue Brownie Pizza

What’s more American than a dessert pizza?! Whip up your favorite brownie mix and spread a thin layer on a baking sheet—make the brownie as thin as possible. Once your brownies are ready, allow them to cool, and top them with cream cheese or vanilla frosting then decorate with strawberry (or raspberry) stripes and a blueberry canton. Chill until you’re ready to slice and serve a little piece of patriotism!

Red, White, and Blue Strawberries

These super cute berries are the perfect sweet snack that everyone can have fun making. All you need is blue and white candy melts (Amazon has plenty of options), the biggest strawberries you can find, and sprinkles. Get the whole family in on the fun and let your creativity shine as you dip the berries into the candy melts, decorate with sprinkles, and whatever else comes to mind! Keep your works of art chilling in the refrigerator until ready to serve and enjoy!

Whatever your Fourth of July menu looks like this year, we hope one of these patriotic desserts helps make the day a little sweeter!

Of course if there’s no time for making one of these treats this Fourth of July, we’ve got you covered! Any one of our decadent flavors is the perfect way to end a poppin’ Fourth of July meal!
